Just deactivated my facebook account. First twitter, now facebook. Methinks a pattern is forming.

Woah, me feels guilty now for slamming Facebook anoyingness. Although, in truth, I've all but abandoned it myself. As for Twitter I'm just hanging on merely to interact with the few die-hard friends who've never even given Jaiku a look.
Wondering though, isn't there a possibility for Sxoop to build a nice social photo editing app (on Facebook)? Eg. for parties, events, etc, wouldn't it be nice for a family to add speech bubbles, effects and so on? Yup, as much as I dislike FB's intrusiveness I still think there's some interesting applications for the 'social operating system'.
Likewise, I just look in but less and less...Too cluttered and messy. I want to link with friends and people with ideas and advice - not deal with endless invites to applications that are uninteresting and dull.
Like Shel Israel, Facebook got me business. I'm also getting press releases via it and made some wonderful connections as a result. So far I think I'm plus a few hundred quid because of this. Also lined up a tonnes of interviews with people so that's nice fodder for the Trib pieces.
Aw shucks guys. Now ye're giving me facebook-deactivation regret.
Not convinced of the pixenate-in-facebook app argument - hate to sound like a web1.0 dullard but "What's in it for me ?"
@Walter 1. Showcase for Pixenate technology 2. Whitelabel it and do some deal with a photo printing service for them to have a print this button in the Pixenate FB app 3. Make it a platform on the FB platform, like Fred Wilson was on about
OK conor. You've convinced me to look up the FB API. I'm taking baby steps but I can't figure how to preview my callback (I've set it up at http://pixenate.com/facebook/callback but how do I just preview this from within facebook ?)
I'm just not convinced of the benefit of building on someone else's platform - the same arguments were made for business in secondLife - that didn't work out too well.
@Walter Talk to Vinny Glennon, he was giving me some help. And you can't as such build on SecondLife, you can take 100 hours to build a fucking t-shirt for it though.
I think you should make the most of the social aspect Walter, perhaps a way for families to have fun by adding speech bubbles together, or captioning event photos (e.g. putting names to everyone), etc. Maybe interior decorators doing up a room could try different colour fills. Whatever can take advantage of FB's 'social graph' thingamajig.
Walter, for this quick work in social software, you should take your place in the Presidential suite at Podcamp Ireland. Or at least come talk to the Minister of Trade and Commerce in the morning while there.
I assume you're tinkering with it now... (wants me up upload a photo with no info as to how (or not buttons etc.))
Let us know when you get to do the mad inventor "it's alive, it's alive I tell you" bit.
Right now I'm at the 'wtf it just died it's just dead' bit. sessions seem to be timing out instantaneously. Seriously wondering if its a ploy by facebook to drive up logins ;-)
Heard about Graffiti Walter? Me neither, until a minute ago. It seems it's "a simple Facebook application that allows users to add quick, or in some cases elaborate, drawings on Facebook profiles and walls has been an absolute overnight success as far as applications go."
But that only for drawing! I want the same thing but for photos.

FB is in-out for me and nothing else. Will keep account there as it gives people yet another way to find me.

Awesome idea James! Whilst we can all bitch about FB, there are still many business opportunities.
Lot's of people only upload their photos to FB. If they had a way to mod them in-site, that would be a killer app!

A million users and a big buyout? Looks like "Where I've Been" FB app might sell for $3m.

Thinking that Pixenate for Facebook, as accessed through Facebook for iPhone could evolve into what MMS 2.0,... actually MMS 5.0

I really want Walter to showcase this app during Podcamp Ireland in Kilkenny on 29 Sep. Make it a shopping trip. Share some memories.

Wow that was fast. Also like James social speech bubble etc idea. The Comic Life ap for Mac is a very big hit in our household.
