@topgold Vernor Vinge is a mathematician and computer scientist who also just happens to write brilliant "Hard" SF. My wife hates SF but read "A fire upon the deep" cover to cover.

Yep. If I have a beef with someone I'll either keep schtumm altogether or I'll say it to their face. Taking the 'some people...' approach is cowardly. Good to see you back microblogging by the way :-)

Yes. Twitter enables something approaching the collective mind of the wolf-like 'Tines' of Vernor Vinge's science fiction novel "A Fire upon the deep". Twitter is becoming a cesspit of indirect allusion and insinuation - the preferred weapons of chose for those with a passive-aggressive bent.

Now if the creative team behind Mad Men were doing Watchmen that would allay any fears. It's not too big a leap from the golden age of advertising to the silver age of superheroes.

Jaiku feels like a gated community; twitter and friendfeed - a ramshackle shanty-town of cobbled together features. I'm not truly comfortable with either.
